Nicole By OPI Selena Gomez collection for Spring 2013 - Review and swatches
Hello lovelies,
I'm a bit late with these swatches as I was totally swamped with work but they're here so enjoy the pictures!
Selena - peach creme with subtle silver shimmer. How else to start other than with the polish called Selena, right? It's a pretty peach that will suit most skin tones. The formula was good but it could do with better pigmentation. I'm wearing two thick coats and I felt three regular coats would be probably better. It applied and removed easily.
Naturally - cool-toned medium pink creme with very subtle shimmer. It's a nice and girly colour but it made my hands look quite pale (well they are but not deadly pale :D). Naturally has a very good formula with easy application and fast drying time. Two coats were enough for full coverage.
Spring Break - hot pink creme shade. I love this one, it's the perfect fun Spring/Summer shade! It's bright and it's vivid, great for toes as well. The formula is again great - it applied smoothly, dried fast and glossy and pigmentation is excellent. I'm wearing two regular coats and no topcoat.
Love Song - blue-based, lavender purple creme. Not my colour but the formula is excellent. Not only it applied easily and dried fast but it was almost one-coater. I ended up applying two coats to get the perfect finish.
Pretty in Plum - red-based purple shimmer. Absolutely stunning shade of purple, it has more red undertones than in the pictures. It applied good but it dries very fast which can cause patching when working slow and re-applying polish to the same place twice. The pigmentation is excellent, it is almost one-coater. I have applied two coats and topcoat as it dries slightly satin.
Hit The Lights - bright yellow creme. It's a very bright yellow which I love! It has good formula - it applies easily, dries fast and the pigmentation is good too. I'm wearing two coats.
Scarlett - strawberry red foil finish with gold glass flecks. Another pretty girly & sparkly shade that I very enjoyed. Its formula is very good - it applies easily and dries fast. I'm wearing two coats which were enough for full coverage. Removal was slightly tricky because of the foil particles and glass flecks.
Inner Sparkle - rose pink, pale gold and purple glitter in a clear base. I have applied one regular coat over Hit The Lights. There's plenty of glitter that sticks to the brush so I didn't have to 'fish it out' of the bottle. It applied easily and dried fast.
Sweet Dreams - teal, pale purple and silver glitter in a clear base. I have applied Sweet Dreams over Spring Break and the combination looks just great! This is just one coat and there's plenty of glitter. It applied well and dried fast.
Heavenly Angel - irregular iridescent glitter in a clear base. The result looks quite nice but i didn't like this polish very much. I had to play with the placement of the glitters. I have applied one coat over Nicole By OPI Basking in Gloria from the Modern Family collection. It dried fast and I needed a thick coat of topcoat as some of the glitters were sticking out of the nails.
Mi Fantasia - blue and holographic bar and round glitter in a clear base. It's a pretty glitter but it is very similar to China Glaze Marry A Millionaire which I already own. I have applied one coat of Mi Fantasia over Love Song. As you can see there's plenty of glitter you'll get with one coat. it applied well and dried fast.
Stars At Night - holographic bar glitter in a clear base. Another polish that is a dupe - it is the same as Zoya Electra. I'm wearing one coat of Stars At Night over Pretty In Plum and I'm happy with the amount of glitter. It applied well and dried fast as per usual.
Kissed At Midnight - gold glitter in a clear base. This glitter topper reminds me of pot of gold at the end of a rainbow :) Really pretty glitter that can be combined with almost any colour. Again, there is plenty of glitter in the bottle. One coat over NOPI Scarlett. It went on easily and I didn't have to place the glitter.
Confetti Fun - multi coloured glitter in a clear base. I've saved the best for last - I love this glitter! It is bright, colourful and yeah...fun! I've applied one coat over Naturally and it looks just so pretty! It applied very easily and dried fast as the other glitters.
Overall, I think this collection is pretty, very girly and fun, especially because of the glitter toppers. I'm not missing blues and greens because those are for example in the Modern Family collection. After all it's Selena Gomez's collection and she's a young woman so I'm not surprised to see pinks and purples :)
All the polishes had pretty good, fast-drying formula including the glitters. I feel that Nicole By OPI's polishes have improved dramatically over the past couple of years formula-wise. I'm happy with them.
