Showing posts with label acrylic paint

Hello lovelies,

First of all, I'm starting like an adjustment period for you where I'll be posting both my square and rounded nails depending on what I want to post so don't be suprised ;) Also I'm going on my late honeymoon (finally!) so in the next week and a half I probably won't be able to post much ;)

Anyway, it's time for ABC Challenge and my letter D is for DELICATE! You can read everything about the challenge in this post from Emily from Nail Polish Society, who is hosting it :)

I've tested a new to me nail art product - a Be Creative Nail Art Pen and created a delicate lace nails. Let's have a look:

I've used the new Barry M Boots exclusives Golden Sands and Beachy Keen as base polishes and I added topcoat. I wore the nails just plain for a day and next day I've decided to test my Be Creative Nail Art Pen. I've bought this pen some time last year and never really gotten around to use it and this was my first attempt on nails. First, I've lightly buffed the top half of my nails where I wanted the lace to be. This helps the paint to adhere better and apply more evenly. Then I dipped my pen into a Be Creative White acrylic paint and draw few squiggles on the paper first (as per instructions). Then I've drawn the lace and the result is above.

The pen is quite easy to work with once you get used to it. It is very different to painting with brushes but you can achieve thin lines and swirls much easier. The more pressure you put on the pen, the thicker the lines will be. I've had few 'teething' problems at the beginning where the pen didn't want to draw. I've visited Be Creative website and found out that my paint was too thick. Easy fix - I added more water to top up the pot and shaked. After that the pen started to work fine. I think I'll try and use the pen more often because it's yet another cool nail art tool and I just love making my life easier :) The pen is pretty inexpensive, selling for £8.10 at sambiddle.co.uk

Hello lovelies,

Today is the second day of the Nail Art Fashion Week and the theme is SHOES! I've chosen to take an inspiration from Derek Lam shoes modelled at this year's New Yor Fashion Week. There weren't that many shoes that caught my attention but these ones are fun!

I chose these shoes because I liked the use of negative space and partially raised surface and the overall filigree look. It was a clear choice for me because it allowed me to do kind of a 3D look using gel.

I started with Unt peel off base coat because I will be using gel that I don't want to wear for long. Then I've painted on all the white filigree with white acrylic paint from Crystal Nails. Once that dried I have used a small nail art brush and Bela Forma Mat White gel paint 23 and painted inside the filigree pattern. I've left a white border around it so it looks like the surface is rising in the middle. Lastly, I've sealed it all with Gelish Top It Off gel polish top coat. For this experiment I've used the new Mylee PRO Elite LED lamp (will be reviewing it) and it seemed to have worked a treat!

So what do you think of my shoes inspired nails?
