Showing posts with label glitter

Hello lovelies!

I can see you really liked the first part of the OPI Skyfall collection that I've reviewed yesterday. I love those polishes! Today I'll show you the second half of the collection consisting of cool-toned polishes and a multi-coloured glitter.

So here they are:

Lucy's Stash - OPI Skyfall Collection: Part 2

Live And Let Die - blackened green with fine gold and emerald flecks. This is a stunning and quite unique shade with an excellent formula. It applied very easily and it's a one-coater! I'm wearing one thicker coat and it's completely covering my nail, no visible nail line. It also dried fast and the fine flecks did not cause trouble when removing the polish.

Moonraker - Silver metallic with strong blue undertones. This polish looks bluer in the bottle than on the nail. The formula is a bit awkward - it applied little bit difficult because it has runny formula and it's very streaky. It also showed all imperfection on my nails. Topcoat made the streaks less visible which I found good.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - blue foil sparkle with golden green and blue glass flecks. It's an interesting yet not unique shade - it is completely same as Zoya FeiFei. The pigmentation of this polish is little lower but I could get away with two thicker coats. It applied well but I had problem with the smell. Same as with Zoya FeiFei, On Her Majesty's Secret Service stinks like rotten eggs..eugh!

The Living Daylights - bronze, gold, silver and teal hexagonal glitter in a clear base. I guess the glitter is intended to be used as a layering polish as it is really hard to get full opacity. I'm wearing one coat in the pictures. I found it hard to apply in strokes so after the first stroke I started to dab the glitter on the nail and spread it. Glitter does not stick out of the nail so I did not experience any horrible uneven surface. The removal was the same like with all glitters - hard. Use foil method or at least longer soak.

The World Is Not Enough - foil brown with pink, green and copper particles. This shade is leaning towards taupe shade and also metallic finish but I think I'd rather describe it as foil. I needed three coats for the coverage you see in the picture which is making this polish the lowest pigmented of the whole collection. It also dried quite slowly in comparison with other shades. I didn't like the removal either as the particles were sticking to my skin a lot. For me this polish is a fail and it's my least favourite from the collection.

Tomorrow Never Dies - ink blue purple shimmer. It's a gorgeous deep blue-based purple that is just impossible to photograph. I needed two thicker coats for the full opacity. It applied easily, dried fast and removal was easy too. I did experience fine brush strokes but they've almost disappeared after applying topcoat.

So there you have it, the second half of the OPI Skyfall collection. I'm really interested in what you think. I absolutely love the first half of the collection but I am quite disappointed with this second half.

The formulas of the polishes in the second half differed a lot from one-coater Live And Let Die to 3-coater The World Is Not Enough. I quite appreciate the range of different finishes like metallic, foil, glass flecks, shimmer and glitter. I think that if you're fan of these cool-toned colours you will find your favourites. As it is a holiday collection I would expect a green shade going well with the reds.

For me the winner of this collection is definitely Live And Let Die with it's excellent formula and interesting colour and the losers are two - The World Is Not Enough for its low pigmentation and shade I'm not fan of and On Her Majesty's Secret Service for its horrible smell and for being a dupe of Zoya FeiFei.

And here are all the beauties all together:

Lucy's Stash - OPI Skyfall Collection

Hello lovelies,

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes yesterday, I've had a great day!

I also finally found some time to write this post which is all about the new Models Own Mirrorball collection! I suspect Models Own is trying to use the current obsession with indie polishes and glitter bombs but hey, it's great! I don't buy indies because they are a bit expensive and most of the girls live in US which becomes very expensive including shipping to UK.

But I wanted this collection! I was prepared to buy it but then something happened... lovely Vic from Glowstars blog has sent me this collection and didn't want anything for it! Could you believe it? My first Random Act Of Kindness and I am so grateful, thank you so much Vic! You all visit her blog and show her some love because she's an amazing person!

Freak Out! - mix of magenta, light and dark blue glitter. The glitters are of different sizes and shapes creating very interesting mix. I've applied one layer of Freak Out! over A England Lady Of Shalott and Pure Ice Oh Baby! combo. It applied nicely but I did have to place the glitter a bit.

Dancing Queen - mix of green, gold, light and dark blue glitter of different shapes and sizes. I've applied one layer of the glitter over A England Tess D’Urbervilles.

Disco Inferno - mix of green, gold and orange glitter. Disco Inferno is one of my favourite shade. The glitter is not big and chunky so it looks very nice on the nail. There's plenty of glitter in the bottle so I've had no problem applying it. One layer of Disco Inferno over OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons.

Boogie Nights - mix of silver, blue, purple and magenta glitter. Some of the glitter is a bit bigger in this polish so it has caused an uneven finish. I haven't used topcoat which might help smoothing it out. This is one coat of Boogie Nights over A England Ophelia.

Hot Stuff - small red glitter mixed with differently-shaped rainbow (colour changing) glitter. It applied very easily and I'm wearing one coat of Hot Stuff over A England Jane Eyre.

I really like this collection despite the removal being a PITA. Next time I decide to wear any of these glitters I will use the PVA glue as a base coat. Otherwise they are really pretty, they apply nicely and dry fast. There is however one drawback with these - the smell! They smell like diluter of some kind, it's a very strong and unpleasant smell.

Mirrorball collection is available now at the Models Own website but is not included in the current 50% off sale (code SUMMERSALE, sale until 2nd October) and right now it's sold out until next stock comes in. One bottle costs £5.
