Paint All The Nails Presents Dotticures | Sea Inspired Nail Art

Hello lovelies,

It's that time of the month...no, NOT that one :D...it's time for a monthly Paint All The Nails nail art challenge! This month's theme is dotticures and I've opted for a bright sea-inspired look.

Another BIG news is, I've changed my nail shape!!! I got sick and tired of breaking off corners on my square nails and that my right hand was never ready to be photographed because my nails were constantly breaking. So now both hands have almond shape and I'm so loving it! What about you - do you like my new nails? I'm still working out the filing technique but I'm getting there!

Paint All The Nails Presents Dotticures | Sea Inspired Nail Art

I wanted to start with a blannk canvas and I just love using white as my base colour. So I've painted a coat of Color Club French Tip and let it dry for a bit. After that I could start creating my sea-inspired dotticure. I've used one size of dotting tool throughout the design. The colours I've used were Models own Powder Blue, OPI Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue and OPI Dining Al Frisco.

I must admit, half-way through the nails I hated it and wanted to take it all off but I knew I didn't have time to create a new manicure for this challenge so I finished all the nails. And boy, was I wrong! I love them now! My nails look like they are a mosaic and I'm so enjoying wearing them.

The pattern of this design is SO beautiful to see! And your nails... SQUEEEL! They look fab! Change is hard to get used to, but I hope you stick with the shape for a while, it looks gorgeous on you!

I personally, hate change..so it takes me a while to get used to something new...years and years of seeing your square nails! I do think the new shape suits you so well though! And the mani is just stunning! I'm sure it took a lot of time too!

So you finally did it :D, they suit you very well. I'm curious about how long does it take you to file and shape both of your hands? It takes me eternity (also since I try to match the lenghts of the nails on both of my hands) to shape them this way and I always wonder if anyone is the same.<br /> <br /> And I have another question that is not related at all, but I've always wanted to ask someone: When you cleanup and pour the acetone into the dappen dish, how do you dispose of the remaining acetone?

I finally did! :D Thank you very much. I haven't had them that long, I only filed them from square to the current shape and then once a little bit more but it didn't take long. I guess if you file them often (like 1x a week) just to make the shape same on all nails then after a while it will be much faster process. That's just my speculation though. <br /> <br /> And for the acetone - I never put acetone into dappen dish because it's a waste. I used to use small 50ml acetone bottle and just dip my brush into it and refill it once empty and now I have a plastic bottle with the pump top so that I just pump out a bit of acetone and use it all up. You can take a tissue/kitchen roll and soak the acetone into it and throw it in a bin outside. it will evaporate

Gorgeous Lucie! I LOVE it when you do dotticures like these. Do you have a YouTube video of this technique already? If not I would love to see one because I can't wrap my brain around it. Also, thank you for pointing out your nail shape change. Even though I already knew you changed them, my brain is still waking up and I couldn't put my finger on what it was that looked different. Lol.

Haha that's amusing that you didn't realize straight away :D I didn't make a video because it's just a dotticure but I could possibly recreate it with different colours and film it. It just takes me ages to set it all up, edit etc. I'm so slow with videos!
